First, let me start with how much you can explore in Faroe Islands. It is true, that this place is secluded and can be difficult to get access to, but it is totally worth it!
After landing at the Vagar Airport, I suggest that you get yourself a rental car because driving is going to be your best buddy during your time at the Faroe Islands. The roads are the most easiest form of transport and allows you to reach your destination quicker than any other form of transport.
After landing, drive to the Sakshun Church Streymoy which is 45 mins from the airport. You can also drive to the capital, Torshavn, where you can easily find a place to stay. But I recommend that going to Sakshun straightaway is going to save you some time. But that totally depends on you.
After you are well rested, head towards Mulafossur Waterfall. It is on Vagar Island. You can drive to the waterfall, but many tourists (including me) would recommend to hike whic would fill you heart with wonderful views. After passing the village of Bøur, there is a small road turning to the left. It leads to Gasadalur. Pro tip - start early to watch the sunrise! As soon as you can spot this house on the right side of the road, park your car. The hike should take maximum of 2.5 hours (if you stop for photos. Otherwise, it should take 45mins). Once you reach the top of the mountain, you might get enveloped in fog. This happens a lot in Faroe Islands. When you finally reach the waterfall, you'll truly feel like you have accomplished everything.
Torshavn is the capital city. It has its own share of delights to offer. Make sure to enjoy the night life as it is one of the things that Torshavn is known for. It has a lot of restaurants where you can explore many of the native delicacies.
even if you do not feel like following my guide, do yourself a favor and visit the Mykines Island. It is the home to a huge colony of puffins. The ferry tours are from 1st May to 31st August. Hike to the lighthouse and I assure you that you'll thank me later.
Best time to visit Faroe Islands is during the Summer (July and August) But other seasons are worth going for too. It totally depends on personal preferences.
This post includes my favorite spots but there are dozens of other cool places in Faroe Islands which I would include in my other blog post.
