Under The Finnish Skies

Hey guys,it's me again!

For today's blog, I am going to share places without which your trip to Finland would be incomplete. I mean, if you spend so much to reach Finland, then why not enjoy every aspect of it?

The first place on my list is Rovaniemi. It is the Santa Claus village in Northern Finland. It is mostly gift shops and has a show which shows how the leves pack the gifts. There is a calligraphy school where you can pen a letter to Santa, and a post office where the elves show you all the mails they receive.

Salla Reindeer Park is near Rovamiemi, and trust me, you will love it. It is one of the last parts of Finland which still has wild reindeer population. The tourists are allowed to feed the reindeer. You will also be offered a sleigh ride.

The best place to view Northern Lights is Lapland. Ruska is a forest in Lapland and the best time to visit it is during Autumn. The leaves of many trees begin to turn bright gold or deep burgandy which gives an effect as if the trees are changing color. It has good camping grounds and rich wilderness.

Levi is a ski resort in Lapland. It is best known for its ski slopes and majestic views of the Northern Lights. There are many hotels in this area which are specially designed for viewing Northern lights and have glass walls and glass ceiling.

Pyhä-Luosto National Park. It has miles to pine forest and deep gorges. Ideal for hiking and camping. The best view is Pyhä Waterfall Isokuru. Freindly Siberian jays appear from the woods as if by magic. Pyhä-Luosto is an excellent place for short day trips or as a starting point for longer hikes in the wilderness. Mountain biking is permitted on nearly a 100 km of marked trails within the park. The birdwatching tower of the Tiaislaavu Nature Trail is an excellent spot for birdwatching. Ahvenlampi, located right next to the centre of fell resort Luosto, is an easily accessible and magnificent fishing spot for the whole family. Ahvenlampi lives up to its name as your daily catch can include perch (ahven in Finnish), rainbow trout and white fish.

Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort. It is more famous as the Igloo hotel. They are the best hotel if you wish to view the Northern Light from your hotel room. You can visit the official website for more details on various activities.

Kummakivi Balancing Rock in Ruokolathi. It is an 8000 years old rock. The Kummakivi can be found balanced upon another rock in the middle of the forest.

This strange sight perplexed visitors since its discovery, and spawned stories of giants having but geologists have more realistic explanation: glaciers.

Lake Saimaa is Finalnd's largest lake. It is a labyrinth formed by wide waters and thousands of islands, not just a simple lake basin. Located in Eastern Finland, you can experience the fascination of pure nature.  The lake water is so clean in many places that you can drink it.

That's all for today! I hope that this was helpful and if you have any more suggestions then please feel free to add those in the comments.

Thank You!
